I figured it out! The crux of his rhetoric is against spending money on Iraq and how it would be better spent here on prescription drugs, social programs, etc. The only thing that appeals to is the "selfish" side of America. Appealing to the greed of Americans only makes people feel a deep down guilt.
...and you can hear good things happening.
Iran...watch it very very closely. I think the mullahs are going to be out of a job in the very near future. Islam is on the way out, Zoroastrianism is on the way in.
Remember what I said in late 2003? Dominoes want to fall.
Freedom needs only a toehold to take root, we've proved this in Afganistan and Iraq and the word is spreading.
Carter fears Florida vote trouble
"He accused Florida Secretary of State Glenda Hood, a Republican, of trying to get the name of independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader included on the state ballot, knowing he might divert Democrat votes. "
This should scare the living shit out of you. First off, Nader is the one wanting to get on the ballot. Second, if he meets the qualifications set forth by the state to be on the ballot then he has every right to do so, regardless of who he "takes votes away from". Thirdly, they're not the democrat's votes, the votes belong to the people.
"With reforms unlikely at this late stage of the election, perhaps the only recourse will be to focus maximum public scrutiny on the suspicious process in Florida."

If this happens...Canadians will find no place or reason for which to multiply. Thirty years from now, me and two others will be able to walk across the border and plan the US Flag there, claiming it for ourselves...there will be nobody to stop us.
It may sound silly, but this plays heavily into where I will spend my money in the coming year. Sears did similar for their employees called into operation Iraqi Freedom in March 2003. While they are serving, many reservists and their families struggle with the sharp difference between their civilian salaries and much lower military wages. Sears has long extended their benefits to active reservists above and beyond what is required by law, offering to make up the difference between active duty pay and their regular salary for 30 days.
When Operation Iraqi Freedom began on March 26, 2003, Sears announced they would extend their supplementation period from 30 days to two years. They will also maintain their company share of medical, dental and life insurance benefits as well (the employee or his or her family must still pay the employee share to keep benefits current). Finally, Sears is also offering a 401K "make-up" plan, so that reservists will not lose their retirement benefits.
From the Chicago Trib...
The following is a quote from the article:
"The Capitol entrance has no metal detectors, and its law enforcement officers are not armed."
So, what you're saying here is they're not so much law enforcment officers as they are union street workers without shovels to lean on. Talk about stupid.
Then, later in the article:
"Outside, police cars and ambulances surrounded the building, and officers roped off the entrance. After the lockdown was lifted, everyone entering the building was required to sign in, rather than the usual procedure of simply showing a badge to enter."
Oh yeah, signing in; that'll help. Illinois, your state is floating on a sea of stupidity.
The Sanskrit word for "war" means "desire for more cows."
Texas is also the only state that is allowed to fly its state flag at the same height as the U.S. flag.
If the population of China walked past you in single file, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction.

If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

"Clothing is wonderful, but let them go naked for a while, at least the kids," said Heinz Kerry, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. "Water is necessary, and then generators, and then food, and then clothes."
Really, I'm sure she doesn't like naked kids in the way Michael Jackson does, well, maybe; but anyway, what does this say about her? Micro Manager. Really Mrs. Whatever your name is, don't you think the people there who've done the job before know what they're doing without your input?
But it's OK, they're just black...they can go naked. Kinda makes you feel like home doesn't it? Your South African home. I guess that's OK there.

Powell: N. Korea Explosion Wasn't Nuclear
No, it wasn't; but you DO KNOW what it was, don't you?
It's a calibration test. You take a known quantity of TNT, say 100 tons; blow it up and use that to calibrate your testing intruments so you know when you blow your first nuke what kind of yield you achieved. The US did the same thing right before the Trinity (first nuclear detonation) test.
But who is the benefactor?
Considering both N. Korea and Iran want nuclear capability at the same time, just because N. Korea does the calibration test, doesn't mean that Iran couldn't be the one to perform the actual nuclear test. They only need to share the calibration information; and that's only if they really care what yield they're getting. If N. Korea wanted to use it as a bargaining chip only, they wouldn't care what yield they'd get...they'd just want the reaction and for us to notice it. So, if they go though the trouble of a calibration that can mean only one thing; they're going for a long-term nuclear development or they're a subcontractor for Iran.

I found myself on the 3rd anniversary of the attack not in my usual daily routine which includes being in front of some sort of broadcast media, internet, or traveling. I was busy enough that I didn't really think about the day.
I misses seeing the guys over 38th street waving american flags; I wonder if they were even there...hope so. There were some rallys downtown which I didn't go to...link here shows that some get it and some don't. I feel kinda guilty that I didn't remind myself much of it yesterday; 3000 people deserved more from me than that. Such is our nature that the further we are from the problem, the smaller it seems.
I'm kinda gald sometimes I live in Indiana...a "red" state, which means it generally votes Republican. Seeing feel-good anti-war rallys makes my skin crawl. The anti rallies here are usually pretty muted and are almost always respectful, and that makes me feel good too. Rage-filled "peace" rallies just don't seem consistent to me and they lose my attention pretty quickly. However, I don't see the point of pro-war rallies are on that day either...seems kinda like a protest of a protest. If the anti's come out, the pro's must too. Better to me, that the anti's be the only ones there and for it, they'll look stupid. I guess I'm ready to move 9/11 into a modern Memorial Day. I don't want to cram two days into one, but I think it's time to make this a reflective day.
But, we're early in this war. Thousands have died in the attack and defending us from further attacks, and that number isn't yet complete; so we're not ready for it's own memorial day. The memorials will continue to be built and named will be added to it for some time to come.
We need to stay angry and remain on the offensive in the war on terrorism. There will be no truce, no armistice, no signed declaration between the warring parties that the war is over. There will never really be an "endgame", no opportunity to disengage, and the troops will never really "come home." All of this makes it difficult for people to support it. People begin to toss around numbers complaining about the "cost" of the war in lives and treasures. To me, this is meaningless. It's going to cost whatever it costs and we're going to pay it however we can pay it; doing less would subject us to the fate of dying by a thousand cuts or worse.
Apathy will kill us all...stay angry, stay focused, and stay motivated.
