Brrrrr

So I had to get the VIN check done today to transfer the title. That involves getting a police officer to sign off that your paperwork matches the VIN on the bike. Five minutes and $5 later, I'm done.

So, I decide to ride it to work this morning...hey 40 degrees isn't really that cold; plus I've got grip heaters. Correction, 40 degrees IS that cold and grip heaters only warm up your hands.

Yesterday, the first thing I did was remove the radar detector mount. I think I might put it back on. That bike is deceptively fast. Compared to the FJ1200, it's silent and doesn't even vibrate.

FJR First Impressions

Longer, lower, smoother, and as fast as the FJ1200. That silly adjustable windscreen really does work too.

The handling is completely different. Very positive; but that makes you feel minor differnces in the pavement. The metzer tires on there are old so I'm switching to Avon AV45/46 combo which is designed for high horsepower sport touring bikes. I'm told they have a better feel and track better in grooved pavement so that'll probably solve it.

I've always been retentive about maintenance; but now I have to document it all and save receipts for the Yamaha extended warranty...what a pain. The previous owner(s) had bought a bunch of Yamaha oil filters, but no crush washers for the drain plug...weird. You can't do one without the other. Well, you can, but it'll leak like a harley if you do. I'll have to see if Autozone has some 14mm crush washers.

Things I gotta do:
1) Oil change with synthetic oil
2) Change spark plugs
3) Change rear end gear oil, probably in the spring
4) Wash and wax, and wax, and wax
5) A bath in armor all to tidy up the black plastic bits
6) Pull some bolts and decorrode and paint them or replace with stainless steel
7) License plates and title transfer
8) Transfer Yamaha warranty
9) Oh yeah, ride it.

She made me do it

I wasn't going to get one, but Stacey made me. I think she just wanted to shut me up about getting outbid on ebay. I really was being a baby about it.
