Farkle: XM Radio Mount

Shoving an XM radio into the map pouch of my tankbag barely passes as a solution anymore so I decided to get a proper mount. I supplied some cash and Hoon Hardware supplied the equipment. Shipping was fast and the products arrived in good condition.

Installation was straightforward and the only thing that took any time at all was mounting and hooking up the electrical supply for the XM; the FJR has a lot of interlocked plastic to go through to get under the dash and at electrical supplies. The cable routing to a bit too; but that was probably just my indecisiveness.

Ride Report

A little chilly on Sunday and I didn't plan to do anything other than a quick shakedown, but what is it about that damn FJR that makes me take longer rides? I did about 150 miles in about 3 hours. Some of the backroads still had some sand on them; expected since we just had 4 inches of snow last week. Must pay attention to that stuff; a heavy bike with lots of horsepower isn't forgiving of mid-corner mistakes.

Started out with a quick run up I74 to Brownsburg and took 267 south...boring-ass road so I picked up 37 at Martinsville. Road is in nice shape and the scenery is good; things are strarting to green up a bit. Ended up going all the way to Bloomington. Usually don't come into Bloomington from that road so I was completely lost, but I just decided to go east until I found something familiar. Found that in state road 45. Once you get out of Bloomington, it's a curvy road with little traffic. No hard riding here though, corners are still a little cruddy in spots; but some good clean sweepers. Was going to take a south run into Nashville, but couldn't think of a reason why so I just took 135 back North to Indy. Saw a sign for a sportsman's store near Bargersville, but didn't find it; gonna have to make another trip to see if they have any bargains.

A couple hours killed, but mostly just time to get outside, listen to some blues and clear my head. Other than being a bit chilled for a few hours after the ride; was a great time.
